Parish Jottings - September / October 2022

Harvest Festival Lunch

One of our most popular traditions for a good many years has been to have a fellowship meal in church after the 10:00 a.m. service at Harvest Festival but, like many other things we all enjoy, this had to be suspended during the Covid pandemic. This year, at last, we are able to revive the Harvest Festival lunch, which will be on Sunday 2nd October. We will probably be asking for some help with this nearer the time. Meanwhile, be sure to put the date in your diary.

A warm welcome to Andy Cowan and family

Andy Cowan, his wife Heather and their children Evie (7), Jamie (5) and Hal (2) moved to Henley in July. Andy takes up the role of Curate in this parish from September, mainly focusing on Trinity at Four but not exclusively so. At the same time he continues teaching and research at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford so won’t be available full-time in Henley. If anyone knows how long it has been since we last had a curate at Holy Trinity it will be interesting to learn!

Diamond Wedding

Many congratulations to Maureen and Brian George who celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary on 11th August. They were presented with an orchid on behalf of their many friends at Trinity Church. What an inspiring example they have given.

Getaway 2022

Trinity at Four’s Getaway weekend this year is on 3rd and 4th September at Saint Katherine’s Parmoor, Frieth. It’s a great time, with lots of fun for kids as well as being a spiritually uplifting experience for all ages. Some families camp or stay over at Saint Katherine’s; others just drive over for the day or part of the day. The guest speaker is Mark Meynell, who is a freelance writer, a chaplain in Whitehall, and Director (Europe & Caribbean) for Langham Preaching. There is a bookstall from 10ofthose.com with lots of brilliant, relevant resources; organised games for both adults and children, a BBQ and ceilidh on Saturday night. It is open to members of our morning congregation as well as the Tat4 family. If you missed it this time, why not book yourself in for next year? You’ll be made very welcome.
