The Easter garden
The Easter garden

The church was exceptionally well-attended on Easter Sunday morning. The service was led by the Reverend Duncan Carter who gave the sermon based on Saint John's Gospel Chapter 20, "The Empty Tomb". The church flower ladies had once again spared no effort to decorate the church throughout with striking displays of flowers in a white and yellow colour scheme set amongst greenery. The flowers used were lilies, chrysanthemums, roses, tulips, daffodils and freesias.

After the service Easter egg hunts were organised for the children both inside the church and in the churchyard.

The children of Trinity School also had been busy in their preparations for Easter and had arranged displays of their artwork around the nave. Mr. Moody's, Mr. Tillyer's and Miss. Fawcett's classes had all written prayers reflecting on Jesus's sacrifice. The prayers were written on cut-out chalices and made interesting reading.

Mrs. Dawson's and Mrs. Porter's classes had painted pictures of stained glass crosses which were displayed on the Parish Room windows. A centrepiece of the children's work was the delightful Easter tree decorated with cut-out Easter eggs each with its own Easter message written on the back. A customary Easter garden was also on display in church.
