Harvest Festival 2013

Harvest Festival 2013

Holy Trinity church celebrated Harvest Festival this year on Sunday 6th October. The interior of the church was attractively decorated with many colourful flower displays arranged by our church flower ladies. Following the morning service a Harvest Lunch was held in the nave at which some 50 people were present.

Also on display in the church were collections of harvested food which, to suit modern-day circumstances, was mainly in the form of tins and packets to enable it to be easily temporarily stored ready for later distribution to those in need when required. All this food was donated by parishioners in response to an appeal from the Lighthouse Food Bank which is based at the Dayspring Centre in Henley.
It is a sign of the times and must be a sad reflection on the way society is governed and managed that today, even in the so-called prosperous Henley-on-Thames area, there are people in need of the basic requirements for living.

Apart from at Harvest Festival time, donations to the food bank are welcomed at any time of the year and will be gratefully received. A list of the types of food particularly asked for was given in the October edition of the Trinty Times on pages 6 and 7.

Trinity School held their Harvest Festival service in church on Friday 3rd October and children’s impressive and colourful harvest collages were displayed around the church.
