Scouts’ Saint George’s Day Service

Souts Saint Georges Day Service

On the afternoon of Sunday 21st April scouts, cubs and beavers from all over the locality celebrated Saint George’s day by parading around the town, led by a band, and processing to Holy Trinity church for their annual service of thanksgiving and renewal of promises. Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout movement, chose Saint George to be the patron saint of the Scout Association, as he felt that his legend set a good example of faith, courage and perseverance.

Daily Reading Booklet

The “Word for Today” daily reading booklet for May / June / July is available in church. There is no charge for the booklet which provides a daily ‘thought for the day’ based on a Christian approach to making the best of everyday life as we may find it.
