Pancake Party

Tuesday 5th March was Shrove Tuesday, also known as ‘Pancake Day’. In the evening, Duncan held a pancake party at the vicarage to which several people went. Duncan and Michael Forsdike cooked the pancakes for the party-goers who enjoyed eating their feast of pancakes. No records were made of how many pancakes were eaten, or of who ate the most, but the cooks were kept busy for a long time. Shrove Tuesday is the last day of feasting before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.

Pancake Party

Next year it is proposed, weather permitting, to hold pancake races. Some practice may be needed by many in the art of tossing pancakes whilst running! Shrove Tuesday seldom occurs on the same date; in 2020, it will be on 25th February.
